All Terrain 4×4.

Drive a genuine off-road Classic – Authentic 1947 Willy’s Jeeps.

Achieve a sense of freedom that only sun, sand, vast open space and wind in your hair can give you.

Absorbing the vastness of the Cape Town’s West Coast sand dunes in an open Jeep, is a unique and thrilling adventure experience that not much else compares to. Journeying down a steep soft slope, engrossed by the growl the sand makes as it chases you, is one of the most exhilarating ways, of getting close to nature.

You will have an experienced off road driver with you at all times, safety belts are worn and all Jeeps are fitted with roll bars. Each jeep can take up to 3 passengers, inviting participants to either drive the vehicles themselves under supervision, or to be driven by the instructor, whichever best suits your need.

Normal 4×4‘s such as Land Rovers, Land Cruisers and double cabs are also made available with drivers, depending on requirements. If you would prefer a bush experience to the vastness of the dunes, a bush trip can also be provided If a relaxing sightseeing nature excursion across the dunes is more your preference, then this is no problem.

On hot sunny days, don’t forget the sunscreen and a hat!

More Fun in the Dunes? How about –

Sandboarding

Quad Biking

Golf – experience golf as you never have before

Radio controlled off-road jeeps

Boat Based Whale Watching Day Trips & Eco-Tours

Seasonal – From July to December
Gansbaai and Dyer Island – This is quite possibly the only place in the world where one can see a mighty whale and a great white shark on the same boat trip.

Boat based Whale Watching

Southern Right Whales guaranteed July to December

See Humpback Whales, Seals and Penguins

Spot Great White Sharks and Dolphins

Transport from Hout Bay, or self drive.

These exciting and informative eco-tours around Dyer Island take place all year
(excluding May), and between July and December the Island experience is combined with boat-based whale watching. The whale watching trips are considered not just magical but rewarding too, and are sure to capture everyone’s imagination. Southern right whale sightings are guaranteed between July and December.

What is a typical trip?

Every trip is preceded by a brief introductory talk about the route and what to look out for. Passengers are fitted with comfortable life-jackets. Safety is of the utmost importance.

All cruises depart from Kleinbaai harbour near Gansbaai. Dyer Island is located 8 km from shore and is completely protected for the conservation of its many resident bird species, including African penguins. Adjacent to Dyer Island is Geyser Rock, home to a 60,000 strong Cape fur seal colony. These seals are also present all year round. The channel of water between Dyer Island and Geyser Rock is the now world renowned Shark Alley. This channel is part of the trip. On whale watching and Dyer Island trips you also see: Great white sharks, Bryde’s whales, Humpback whales, Southern giant petrels, Cape gannets and Dolphins.

This experience is both fun and educational. Each trip is led by experienced marine guides who will share their knowledge with you, keeping emphasis on the welfare and conservation of the animal. Responsible tourism is the main objective so the focus is on conservation, education, community upliftment and safety.

Anyone who has had the joy of meeting a mighty whale face to face will tell you just how magical it is. Huge, gentle, mysterious, curious. Can you imagine a giant friend, like none other? As captivated by you as you are by him. A whale that is longer and wider than the boat in which you sit. A whale of 40 tonnes launching clear of the sparkling blue sea with a majestic tail of 5 metres, who may live to 200 years, who has had spellbinding adventures at sea which will be his secrets forever.

THE EXTREME ADRENALIN EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEVER FORGET !

An Adventurous Full Day Tour for the best Shark Cage and surface viewing in the world, in safe conditions.

Transfers, food and all diving materials included

Shark Cage Diving and Sighting Tours are offered on a daily basis from Cape Town. You will be collected from your hotel and taken through to Gansbaai (a pleasant 2hr drive) in a spacious, air-conditioned vehicle.

Approximately 12km offshore from Gansbaai are two islands – Dyer Island and Geyser Rock – situated next to each other. Due to a number of geographical reasons, one being the shallow and narrow channel that runs between these two islands, Dyer Island has become known as one of the most unique areas in the world to successfully view the Great White Shark. This full day of heart-stopping action includes your transport, breakfast, lunch, snacks, all required diving equipment such as wetsuits, weight belts & masks, waterproof/windproof jackets and towels. You will be accompanied throughout by a very experienced and qualified guide.

Dyer Island is a bird sanctuary and a breeding site for the African penguin and many other coastal birds. Adjoining it is a second, smaller rocky island called Geyser Rock which supports a large seal population. Separating Geyser and Dyer is a channel aptly named Shark Alley, arguably THE prime spot in the world for encountering the Great White shark.

The lauch is usually around 9:00 am in the morning, arriving at the anchoring spot in 20 to 25 minutes. The anchor is lowered, the cage goes into the water, and scent trail is laid. Final preparations for the diving are made, and the rest of the day is spent watching, diving and enjoying the day.

The cage is made out of a 25 mm galvanised mild steel frame and covered with 10 mm galvanised mild steel security mesh. It has no sharp edges on which a shark can injure itself. The cage is secured to the side of the boat. Buoys keep the top of the cage above the water surface. The sharks do not try and attack the cages or try to bite the divers inside the cage. They do sometimes bite the cages in an exploratory manner, and sometimes also have a good look at the divers inside the cage. It is not in the nature of the shark to attack the cage or the diver inside.

After spending time with the sharks, the boat makes its way to Dyer Island – depending on the tide and sea conditions. At Dyer Island you approach close enough to view African penguins, Cape cormorants and many other species. You can also often spot giant petrels, Cape gannets, white chinned petrels and storm petrels.

Neighbouring Dyer Island is Geyser Rock, home to 60,000 Cape Fur Seals. The stretch of water between the two islands is Shark Alley. Next is a visit to Shark Alley to view the seals. The colony is thriving and there is always lots of activity, especially around November time when the tiny pups are born.

After about 3 to 4 hours, depending on the day, the boat heads back to land. Should you wish to return to shore earlier, a transfer can be arranged. You are returned to your hotel

Southern Right whales breed along the coast between July and December. These incredible huge marine mammals can be viewed in season so why not combine shark cage diving and whale watching?
